Message related. The engine/trans combinations fetch anywhere from $3k-4500 generally, unless you can find a steal. + Driveshaft, doing a standalone, mounts, etc etc. Even after all that, you have just a little more "power" than a stock TT

The motive is function over anything. I don't care about the sound, I don't care that it has 2 more cylinders for any other reason than the power, and I don't care what brand name is on the engine. if it can get me around a track faster, awesome. If honda had a worthwhile, suitable engine I'd even consider that (and I'm by no means a honda-guy). I'll let the records show that I looked to alternative nissan motors first. The VH, the VK, the VQ, even the SR. I wanted as little weight and as far back as possible, with a good powerband, reliable, and easy to work on. None of the nissan engines I looked into fit. The fact that I can likely run to any local auto parts store and locate any part I might need on a track in short time, is very appealing.

Sorry, the VG is a great engine - but it's too heavy and not the best powerplant for a track car. You can make it "work", but it will take much more money with less end result. If I were to run a VG, I'd want to knock the firewall back a couple inches and relocate the engine to get some of the weight farther back. That's more work than it's worth.
